“The Dybvig Seed Cleaner has been an amazing tool. I ended up building a drying room as my capacity to clean seed out grew my ability to dry it quick enough. I am able to supply seeds to plenty of regular customers, nurseries and government agencies, with major orders of seed. It is still lots of work to harvest the seed but there is no longer a bottleneck for cleaning the seed. It is amazing how versatile the Dybvig cleaner is. I have over 300 species on my availability list and almost all of them get some processing through the Dybvig.”

I've been working with Tree Seed for over 37 years. Thirty-five of those years have involved the Dybvig Seed Cleaner. We've gone through plenty of parts; plates, hoppers, shafts and motors. Our original machine is still humming, as is another one purchased ONLY 20 years ago! Melvin's machine is fantastic! We use it wet and dry all in the same day. Hundreds of species have been tried and it works for over 90% of them. We use our machines almost everyday. Some days they will be running for hours on end. It is my experience that when you get two seed processors together it doesn't take long for the name Dybvig to come up. The nursery and seed industry owe a debt of gratitude to the man who invented this machine! Thank you , Melvin, you made our lives much easier.

Maple Leaf Seed is a native seed company. We purchased our first Dybvig Seed Cleaner in 1974 and now have three machines that we use throughout the year. We use both the wet and dry methods to process all kinds of wild land seed. The Dybvig machine does what it is supposed to do--it works. We recommend highly the Dybvig Seed Cleaner for any seed processing company. (Utah)
The Dybvig machine is an essential part of the business. It works great for cleaning numerous small lots of seed with no downtime for change of seed.

"We ran Devil's Claw pods. Incredibly tough... Highly effective at shaking out seeds. The pods are entire but it worked well even under that stress. We had to put a cinder block on top to hold the machine in place. We used the processor for extremely hard pears. We normally will do a soft run the first time out, let the pears sit for 2-4 days... we cleaned them completely. As of yesterday, we were able to get really good clean runs with almost all seed...
I love that machine."

Works great on all seed--wet or dry. It is portable so it can be used on site.

"We have cleaned seeds from at least 14 genera... As a labour-saving device to do a messy job, it rates very highly and produces clean seed."

"Our Dybvig Seed Cleaner is 30 to 40 years old and is used annually to clean up to several hundred pounds of berries of various species. It has functioned well without repair over that entire period. Extremely effective for Rocky Mountain juniper, Silver Buffaloberry, and Snowberry, among many other species."
Joe Scianna, NRCS, Bridger, MT
My predecessor as well as his predecessor used the same machine I now use. We have used our Dybvig Seed Cleaner now for a few decades on a wide variety of seed. It makes seed extraction from many different species much easier than the other alterative methods.
